I liked the Drowned World. It was highly entertaining, and the concept was interesting. It made me want to read more of his work.
I do wish that Ballard would have spent a bit more time on the psychological aspect of "deep time" on humans. That was my favorite part of the book.
Ballard has a lot of the same themes in his books, especially his earlier works deal with isolation and desolation... and doctors.
If you want a recommendation, I'd point to 'The Day of Creation' as worth reading next.
'The Drought' is also excellent. I felt sun bleached just reading it.
Actually, I may have to read it again now!
